How to Update an Existing Social Insights Installation

You can use this guide to upgrade your existing Salesforce Social Insights installation, from versions 2.0-3 to 2.4 (latest).

If you're using an earlier version than 2.0, we recommend that you re-install the package completely.

Why upgrade?

  • The Social Activity object now contains a campaign reference field that you can leverage for campaign-level reporting.
  • The package now comes with a Flow that helps keep your data up to date by changing the reference fields as leads are converted to contacts.
  • The new package eliminates the use of iframes to display social activities inside the Lead, Contact, and Account layouts.

How to upgrade?

Step 1

Add the Campaign field to the Oktopost Social Activity object.

Once you've added the field, deactivate and re-activate the Social Insights package in Oktopost, under Integrations → Salesforce → Packages.

Step 2

Create the following Flow with Salesforce Process Builder, and activate it.


Step 3

Remove the following components from your package:

Note that to remove the Visualforce pages you will need to access the Page Layout, under Setup and remove it from there.

Step 4

Add the social activities to your Lead, Contact and Account views as described in the installation guide.
