How to Set up The Microsoft Dynamics Integration

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is a customer relationship management software by Microsoft.


Oktopost supports Microsoft Dynamics 365. To set up the integration, you must:

  1. Have admin access to both Oktopost and Microsoft Dynamics.
  2. Have a Microsoft Dynamics CRM account with web API access.

Integration Setup

First, you need to obtain your Instance Web API URL from Service Endpoints under Settings > Customizations > Developer Resources in your Dynamics account.

Then, head back to Oktopost, go to Settings > Integrations, click on Add Integration, select Dynamics, enter your Instance Web API URL, and click Submit to authorize it in your Dynamics account.

How it works

The Oktopost Dynamics integration uses Microsoft’s Common Data web API to interact with records inside your CRM. It uses the permissions obtained from the authorized user to make the API calls. The entities Oktopost interacts with include:

  1. Leads
  2. Contacts
  3. Accounts
  4. Oktopost Social Activity (custom entity)

Integration Options

Oktopost provides various options for integration with Microsoft Dynamics:

Social Activities

If enabled, Oktopost will automatically create a Social Activity entity in Dynamics and send it data every time leads and contacts interact with your brand on social media. You can then leverage the custom entity’s data to create views and reports on social media activities by known leads and contacts.

Social Attribution

If enabled, Oktopost will update your Contact and Lead records every time a person interacts with your brand on social media. To use this option, you must set up a Text field (standard or custom, but not a Text Area field) for the record type you wish to update with a suggested minimum of 255 characters.

The updated value will contain the last social source from Oktopost, based on the Source Field Template that you configure.

Lead Fields

You can use this option to configure which fields you want users to fill as they manually sync leads into Dynamics. You can add as many fields as you want and populate them using parameters, with pre-existing data from Oktopost.

Connecting Multiple Dynamics CRM Instances

If you have the Multiple Integrations license and would like to sync your data to two or more separate Dynamics instances, click on Add Integration and select Microsoft Dynamics from the list to connect an additional instance. All data is shared with both/all instances.
